In September, the Washington State Democrats will hold a primary to see who will represent them on the November ballot. The choice will be bewtween the 1st term incumbent, Maria Cantwell, and challenger, Mark Wilson. *
During her five years in the Senate, Cantwell has voted for the Iraq War Resolution (a vote for which she recently stated she has no regrets), the Patriot Act (twice), NAFTA (during a previous term in the House) and CAFTA, confirmation of Condi Rice and John Negroponte, and she refused to stand with other Democrats to sustain the fillibuster of Samuel Alito.
Mark Wilson has spoken out about all of these issues and more and yet the state party and the media have continued to marginalize his candidacy as a single issue anti-war insurgent campaign. The following is my ode to the media's complicity in this effort.
